How to Get the Updated Theme?

You can download the latest version of the theme from ThemeForest.

Keeping your theme updated is essential for maintaining a bug-free website, improving features, and ensuring compatibility with the latest WordPress versions. There is no risk of losing your settings and pages. However, any modifications made to the parent theme files will be lost during the update.

Updating Methods

There are three methods to update a WordPress theme to the latest version:

1. Manual Update via WordPress Admin – Deactivate and delete the old version, then upload and activate the new version.
2. Automatic Update via WordPress Admin – If the theme supports automatic updates, you can update it directly from the WordPress dashboard.
3. Update via FTP – Replace the old theme files with the new version using an FTP client like FileZilla.

Before updating, it is strongly recommended to back up your modified files. Also, we advise deactivating the current version before uploading and activating the new version.

Method 1: Manual Update

1. Download the latest version of ABC from your ThemeForest account. Choose “All files and documentation” (full ZIP folder).
2. Extract the ZIP file and locate the ABC.zip file.
3. In your WordPress Dashboard, navigate to Appearance → Themes → Add New → Upload Theme.
4. Click “Choose File”, select ABC.zip, and click “Install Now”.
5. WordPress will display details about your existing version. Click “Replace current with uploaded” to complete the update.
6. After installation, go to Appearance → Install Plugins and delete the ABC Toolkit plugin.
7. Reinstall the ABC Toolkit plugin to ensure compatibility with the updated theme.

Method 2: Autometic Update Using Envato Market

1. Install the Envato Market plugin.
2. Go to themeforest.net > Settings > API Keys.
3. Generate an API key and save it for later use.
4. Log in to your WordPress admin dashboard.
5. From the left sidebar, click on Envato Market.
6. Enter the API key you retrieved from themeforest.net.
7. Click Save Settings.
8. Once the page refreshes, you will see a list of themes you have purchased.
9. If a new version is available, an “Update Automatically” link will appear.
10. Click the link to update the theme to the latest version.
11. After update the theme, go to Appearance → Install Plugins and delete the ABC Toolkit plugin.
12. Reinstall the ABC Toolkit plugin to ensure compatibility with the updated theme.

Method 3: Updating the Theme via FTP

1. Download the Latest Theme Version
   • Log in to your Themeforest account.
   • Navigate to Downloads (Dashboard > Downloads).
   • Download the latest version of the theme to your computer.
2. Prepare for Upload
   • Install an FTP program (e.g., FileZilla, which is free).
   • Retrieve your FTP login details from your hosting provider.
   • Log in to your hosting via FTP.
   • Unzip the downloaded file and locate the ABC.zip file.
   • Extract ABC.zip, ensuring no extra nested folders are created.
3. Upload via FTP
   • In your FTP program, navigate to: YOUR_HOSTING_ROOT/YOUR_SUBDIRECTORY/wp-content/themes/
   • Drag and drop the extracted theme folder into this directory.
   • If prompted, choose to replace all existing files.
4. Final Steps
   • The upload process may take 15 to 30 minutes.
   • Once completed, log in to your WordPress dashboard.
   • Navigate to Master Key Settings (found in the header, next to the Master Key logo).
   • If the theme version has changed to the latest version, the update was successful.

Alternative Method: Updating via cPanel

Instead of FTP, you can also upload the new theme version via cPanel File Manager.
Make sure you replace the old theme files with the new version.
